"The patient is well and in stable condition..."

So says the doctor/spokesperson of the İzmir Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi (what a mouthful, Izmir's 9th of September University Medical School Hosptial).

For those of you with better things to do, here's the short story.

A 'misplaced file' in the university hospital redirected a 55 year old Turkish woman, Saadet Kılıç, from her scheduled cataract surgery. As a result of the confusion, her eyes weren't operated upon.

Instead, her uterus was removed.

Whoopsydoodle!
